Congratulations to Professor Emeritus Dr. Jaran Mahathumrat, or Ajarn Jaran, our respected teacher, on being nominated by the Medical Association to receive the Somdet Phra Wanarat Award. The Medical Association will hold the award presentation ceremony on January 31.
This is the highest honor, and only one person receives this award—our Ajarn Jaran. 🎉🎉🎉
The Somdet Phra Wanarat Award is a prestigious honorary award presented by the Medical Association of Thailand under the Royal Patronage to physicians with outstanding achievements who have made significant contributions to society and the nation, bringing distinction to the medical profession. Established in 1971, the award honors physicians of exceptional merit in administration, academia, and service, in order to recognize excellence and inspire dedication and hard work within the Thai medical community.
- Awarded the Ananda Mahidol Foundation Scholarship to pursue studies in Australia and the United States.
- “Mahidol-B. Braun Award” for Medicine and Public Health in Thailand (1999)
- “National Outstanding Individual Award” in Science and Technology (Medicine) from the National Identity Board, Office of the Prime Minister (2003)
- “Dusadi Mala Medal for Medical Sciences” awarded by His Majesty King Vajiralongkorn (2023)
- Distinguished Lecturer Award (Ratchadaphisek Fund), Chulalongkorn University (2002)
- Conferred the title of “Professor Emeritus” by Chulalongkorn University (2011)
